 News & Updates

This is my News & Updates page, thanks for stopping in! I'll be posting latest news, events or site updates on this page. Check back often to see what new and exciting part or project I'm involved in next.

Current

I’ve now officially “recurred” on “Medium”! It’s the season finale, airing May 23rd.

I’ll be shooting Steven Bochco’s new show, “Blind Justice,” January 11th. Co-producer John Badham, of Saturday Night Fever fame, is directing. This episode appearing on ABC Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Check your local listings for time.

I had a great time on “Cold Case.” My episode was directed by Tom Holohan and written by Jan Oxenberg. The material wasn’t easy, but the issues it dealt with are more important now than ever. I was very proud to be a part of this story.

Just shot a re-make of the 1919 German horror classic, "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", This was incredible fun. We shot everything in a green room, to be laid in over black and white plates taken from the original. David Fisher wrote and directed. David and I had a Vulcan mind-meld right from the start; you know, like when you meet someone and find out you both used to throw M-80s at the school bus? We're going to do a sequel called "Randy and David's Big Adventure/Excuse For Making Another Movie". If you're a horror fan, you'll be able to read about us in "Fangoria" magazine.

“Medium,” airing January 3rd and 8th, 2005, was created and directed by “Moonlighting” creator Glenn Gordon Caron. Patricia Arquette and I worked in a real Hollywood hurricane – a little chilly, but fun!

Just shot a spec pilot called "Reckoning". This time I'm the lead bad guy, Pontius, who's sort of devilish. My pal Mike Kirkland is the good guy, but we don't meet in the pilot - you'll have to wait for our big showdown in episode 13. Will GOOD triumph over EVIL? Not if I have anything to say about it.......This one was written and directed by Richard Ostella. Watch out for Richard, 'cause he's going places.

Beverly Hills Playhouse Happenings

Also up at the Playhouse is “Lone Star”, starring my pals Mike Petted, Don Swayze and Steve Fite and directed by Alan Williams.  It began as a scene in class, and became the first Los Angeles production of his play authorized by James McClure in 25 years.  Prospects are good for a move to New York .  Longtime BHP student, Emmy-winner and Camelot Productions Angel Doris Roberts was instrumental in bringing the playwright on board and pushing for the production.  Extended for two final weeks, closing the weekend of May 28th, this is a must-see!

On my home turf, the Skylight Theater, “Of Mice and Men”, directed by “MASH” producer Gene Reynolds, has opened to stellar reviews.  This production, like “Lone Star”, started as a scene in Milton ’s Advanced acting class by Dave Guzzone (George) and Andre Hotchco (Lenny).  Classmates Mike Minor, Ski Carr, Watson Watring, Michael Yavnielli, David O’Donnell and the rest (sorry guys – couldn’t remember everyone) are doing this classic like it’s never been done before.

Speaking of Camelot Productions, 2005 marks the first full theater season for the production arm of the Beverly Hills Playhouse.  Coming next:  “The Bear”, directed by Steven Macht.

If you're in LA, watch for our One Act Festival at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Click on the link to get the particulars.

January 2005 begins my twelfth year with Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Learn more about Milton or the playhouse by clicking on their respective names.

Past News & Updates

In November 2003 finished a co-starring role in the TV movie, "A Perfect Husband". The Scott & Laci Peterson story. The Scott Peterson case is almost old news, but they’ll probably be re-running “A Perfect Husband” sooner or later – I play the skipper of the police boat. Dean Cain is great in the title role.

Launching my official website with the help of Shadoeworks®! My new website was something I've been looking to do for awhile now. Working with Shadoeworks has helped me to realize this goal and I'm looking forward to adding more to the site as time goes by. Be sure to check them out by clicking on their name, and tell 'em Randy sent you!

"Critical Mass," an action flick I shot with Treat Williams, is out on video.  Check it out!

"The Base II," is out on HBO.  I rail against evildoers as a military prosecutor with a hidden agenda, then blow my brains out while I'm on the phone with James Remar.

We held a reading for my feature script, "Guidelines for Wholesome Living," at the Skylight theater, with 33 Beverly Hills Playhouse students reading some 77 roles.  It was a huge success - we had to add 20 minutes for laughs!  I'm seeking financing now through my company, Onager Filmworks, for a Fall production.

My first short film, "Breakfast," is almost done.  How can I high-concept this one?  It's "Last Tango in Paris" meets "That Darn Cat," how about that?  With original music by moi, starring classmate Kirstin Pierce, myself and my faithful retainer Mr. O'Shaughnessey, a cat so cool he makes Finicky Morris look like, well, a big pussy.  "Breakfast" is coming soon to a film festival near you.
